Hiro Tanaka

Hiro Tanaka is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Newport, South Wales. His special interest is adult foot and ankle surgery, having trained in Wales and gained fellowship experience in the US with Ted Hansen and Germany with Hans Zwipp. 

Education and training have been the main roles in his career. He is passionate about improving the quality of surgical training and promoting clinical leadership in the NHS. Mr Tanaka is passionate about the difference clinicians can make as leaders in healthcare and viewing all care from the eyes of the patient. Mr Tanaka currently runs a T&O Future Leaders Programme for the BOA in partnership with Lisa Hadfield-Law. He designed the BOFAS Principles Course on behalf of the Education Committee in 2010 and continues to be a member of the Committee. He is Chairman of the Education and Revalidation Committee of the BOA and is an examiner for the FRCS (Orth). He is currently Treasurer of the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS).
