Dr Stefan Rammelt is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Head, Foot & Ankle Section, the University Center for Orthopaedics, Trauma and Plastic Surgery, Dresden (Germany). He specialized in Orthopaedic Surgery and Trauma under the mentorship of Prof H. Zwipp. He further did fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery in Torino (Italy), Seattle (Harborview) and Tampa (Orthopaedic Trauma Service), in the US.
His interest in foot and ankle trauma and reconstruction led him to become a full Professor of Trauma & Reconstructive Surgery and a visiting Professor at several universities in the world. He is also AO Trauma Course Chairperson in Dresden and several other locations across Europe, a member of AO Foot&Ankle Expert Group, AO Foot&Ankle Education Task Force, and an International Member of the American Orthopaedic Foot&Ankle Society (AOFAS).
Mr Rammelt is past president of the German Society of Biomaterials (DGBM) and is currently President-Elect of the German Foot and Ankle Society (D.A.F.). He is Editor-in-chief of the German Journal for Foot&Ankle Surgery (Fuß & Sprunggelenk), Associate Editor of Foot&Ankle International Journal, and Section Editor for Foot&Ankle for The Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma. A large publishing career includes the authoring of 6 books, more than 60 chapters of books, and 354 papers in peer-reviewed publications of which 277 are indexed in PubMed-listed journals.
